Mildred Irene Golen, 76, formerly of Cloquet, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 in Anoka Care Center, Anoka. She was born May 7,1926 in Hill City, Minnesota, the daughter of Nick and Jenny (King) Kortekaas. Mildred was a cook at Cloquet Community Memorial Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1988. She loved playing bingo and enjoyed crocheting items to give to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Delbert Golen, in 1990 and Gordon Feltus in 1992 and six brothers and sisters. Mildred is survived by two daughters, Karen (Melvin) Siltanen of Wrenshall and Helen (Morry) Scheeler of Coon Rapids; two sons, Alan (June) Feltus of Duluth and Douglas Golen of Cloquet; three sisters, Julie (John) Varner of North Carolina, Joyce Johnson of Aitkin and Adella (Frank) Hill of Nisswa, MN: four brothers, Nick Kortekaas of Denver, CO, John (Dolores) Kortekaas, Burt (Wanda) Kortekaas and Dan Kortekaas, all of Hill City, MN; 22 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Monday, December 30, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet, followed by a time of fellowship and lunch in the Fireside Room.
