Arthur Junior Carlson, 80 of Cloquet died peacefully on Christmas Day, visiting his family in Waconia MN. Art was a graduate of Cloquet High School, and joined the Army, serving his country with a peace keeping force in China. He came home, married the love of his life, and had his five children. He worked for Northwest Paper and subsequently Potlatch as a supervisor, and had been retired for many years. After his family, his passions were golf and hockey - especially youth hockey. Art was a volunteer coach for over 25 years for the Cloquet Amateur Hockey Association, and touched the lives of many players with his love for coaching and working with the kids. His annual Winter Olympics held events that still can't be talked about today. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie; his parents, Arthur Carlson and Esther Carlson; sister, Lilly Carlson; brothers, Elrude Carlson, Wilbert Carlson and George Carlson. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Kathy Irons) Carlson, Deborah (Robin Gault) Carlson, Loila Mickelson, Brigit (Jim) Cousin and Blake (Michele) Carlson; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Melvin (Elsa) Carlson; and sister, Pauline (Jim) Johnson, nephews and nieces. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 12th Street and Doddridge Ave., Cloquet. Inurnment was in Atkinson Cemetery in Atkinson.
