Charles Franklin Doty, 76, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away July 10, 2024, at WJB Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on January 16, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late William and Ida (Cruise) Doty.

Charles was an outstanding husband and stepfather.  He was a professional glass glazer for over 25 years, working for Ace Glass and Middlebrook Glass.  Charles was very proud of his work, building the Columbia Mall and many of the prominent businesses in Columbia.  When he was not working, Charles would walk three miles a day and lift weights.  He also enjoyed a close friendship with the Fabulous Moolah, aka Lillian Ellison, as they would visit often.  His kind and gentle soul will be missed by those he loved and those that loved him.

Charles is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Linda D. Doty; his stepdaughter, Christy L. Kelly (Rune); a grandson, Storm; all of the country of Norway. Charles is also survived by his brother, Tom Doty and nephew, Joseph Doty.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia; and brothers, Bill and James.

The family would like to thank Jeremy and Debbi for their care and special understanding through this difficult time.

Interment will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 1:00PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229 at 1:00PM with Military Honors being rendered.
