John Scott Rogers, 74, of Venice, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 27, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, John was the beloved only son of Ralph Condry Rogers and Sarah Margret Rogers.An electrician by trade and proud member of IBEW Local 1, John was known for his dedication and skill in his work, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Following retirement in 2016, John and his wife, Carolyn Bonney-Rogers, moved from their hometown to the sunny shores of Venice, Florida, where he quickly became a cherished member of the community. John's life was filled with love and laughter. John was a devoted husband to Carolyn Bonney-Rogers and a loving father to his children, Eric Rogers (married to Lori, with children Joe, Noah, Tegan, and Sarah), Kathy (Rogers) Pennington (married to Steve, with children Natalie, Lauren, and Jonathan), Carrie Bonney, and Tracy Boatright. His love for his family was boundless, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments. He was also a dear friend to many, always ready to share a laugh or a song. John had a wide circle of friends who will remember him fondly for his vibrant personality, larger-than-life attitude, and passion for living life to its fullest. One of his favorite pastimes was entertaining at the Zebra Bar, bringing smiles and happiness to those around him.John's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the joy he spread through his laughter and friendships. His absence leaves a void in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.John's life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Wednesday, July 31, at 2:00 pm at Farley Funeral Home, 265 Nokomis Ave S, Venice, FL 34285.Rest in peace, John.
