Benny James Batten
December 30th, 1947 - August 13th, 2024
Benny James Batten, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Advent Heath Ocala. He was born on December 30, 1947 in Miami, Florida to Henry Cecil and Nina Batten.
He graduated from Ocala High School in 1970. On June 11, 1977, he married Marcia Akers at Olivet Baptist Church in Ocala, and they were married for 47 years. For 29 years, Benny worked for the Florida Department of Transportation. He was involved with Olivet Baptist Church and then Memorial Baptist Church. The Belleview Garden Club was important to Marcia and Benny until it was dissolved. They attended many District meetings, FFGC conventions, along with Blanch Covington.
Benny is preceded in death by his parents. H.C. and Nina Batten, brothers Hermon (Diane) and Sherman.
He is survived by his wife Marcia, his brother Paul Batten (Pat), in-laws, nieces and nephews.
