Gordon West Hicks, Jr.

West Hicks

Gordon West Hicks, Jr. of Evington, VA, passed away on the morning of August 21, 2024, peacefully in his home with his wife by his side. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.

West is the son of Gordon West Hicks, Sr. and Eveyln Harris Hicks of Evington and was born on September 29, 1954.  West was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Susan Hicks Johnston. He is survived by his wife Wanda Whitten Hicks, to whom he was married for 38 years.

West attended New London Academy and was a 1973 graduate of Brookville HS. He was a member of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church and member of Moose Lodge 1727. He had a successful career as a builder and contractor, constructing many quality homes in the Lynchburg and surrounding areas.

We remember West as an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, hunting, fishing and time spent on the farm. He enjoyed his annual trek to Colorado with friends and has many trophy mounts to showcase his success. His yearly trout fishing trips to Blowing Springs and hunting adventures to Paddy’s Knob, both beginning in his high school days, leave behind tales to be told by many.

West was loyal to Wanda, his family and his friends. He touched many people over all his years and adventures and all will miss him dearly.

Per his request, there will be no memorial service.  Should you wish to honor West, please consider Hunters for the Hungry.
