Maria Pauline Hortencia Arellano
January 19th, 1920 - September 6th, 2024
Maria Pauline Hortencia Arellano January 19, 1920 - September 6, 2024 Littleton, CO passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 6. Pauline "Grandma" was born to Antonio and Bersabe Hidalgo in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Longmont CO to farm sugar beets. While still a young child the family moved and settled in Denver CO where she remained the rest of her life. A child of the Great Depression, she, as her older siblings, was forced to leave school at an early age and help support the family. For her entire life she had a tremendous work ethic. After WWIl, she met our father while he was visiting his sister at a hospital in Boulder. Mom was her roommate . A romance ensued and they were married in July of 1948 and remained married until his passing in April of 2001 - 52 years. In her younger years she loved playing and watching baseball. Mom was an excellent dancer and an excellent cook. She loved babies and learned to crochet in her later years. She was an independent lady and lived by herself after her husband's passing until the age of 95.
Even driving herself to church and groceries until it was necessary to take the car away at around age 90. One of the strongest women you would ever meet - physically and morally - until her last days. Still trying and succeeding in getting out of her hospital bed with rails in her last days! Loved by all, she will be terribly missed. She was predeceased by her husband Jose D. Arellano, her grandson Adam Mackintosh, and all of her siblings except one. Her sister Tommie died the day after her on September 7th at the age of
98. Seems they were waiting for each other. Happily entering into Heaven together hand in hand. She is survived by her children Frank Arellano (wife Cindy) and Theresa Mackintosh (husband Arturo); 8 grandchildren, Greta Caschette (Larry), Melanie (Adam's widow), Deirdre (Ruben), Austin (Marina), Andres (Shannon), Sarah (Jake), Lisa Donati (Rocky), Lauren Gripenstraw (Adam), Andrea Loos (Cam). 17 great grandchildren Cesca, Malena, Elise Cashette, Adison, Claire, Sophia Mackintosh, Gloria Celeste, Jose Ruben Carrillo-Mackintosh, Asher, Reid, Camden, Harper Mackintosh, Nico, Gemma, Leo Donati, Declan, Liam Gripenstraw.
May she rest in peace and love of the Lord forever and ever. Amen
