Hazel Jane Bishop
August 5th, 1920 - September 1st, 2018
Hazel Bishop passed September 1, 2018 at the age of 98. She was born August 5, 1920 in Vinland, Kansas to James and Mary Shaw Jones. She was the fifth of fourteen children. She grew up on a farm in Vinland. After high school she moved to Oregon where she met Garnet Bishop. They were married June 29, 1939 and lived near Goble. They moved to Monmouth in the mid-forties.In 1952 they moved to Taft and in 1954 bought a house at Gleneden Beach where they raised four children. After Garnet passed away July 1989, she moved to Monmouth in 1997 where she lived until moving to Salem in 2016. Hazel was active in Eastern Stars, Rainbow girls and Rebeca’s. She worked for the post office at Gleneden Beach and then at the Depoe Bay Post office. She retired after thirty years. She is survived by her children James Bishop, Garnetta Kirk (Stan), Stanley Bishop, Joyce Buschek (Greg) and three grandchildren.

At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
