Life is hard. Don't cry too long, just keep going.

Trinny Lucia Walker, 84, died on October 7, 2024, at 9:44 pm, exactly 58 years after she gave birth to her only daughter, Maria Josefina Salazar.

Trinny, Trinnita, was known for her generosity, kindness, zest for life, and a smile to brighten up a room. She had a feisty personality, and love for the finer things in life. Many people admired Trinny. Trinny loved blindly and wholeheartedly. Trinny was president of a geophysical company, an entrepreneur who owned her own florist shop and cafeteria, a wonderful nanny who raised multiple families, and an artist who sold her paintings during her life. Still, her best titles were mom and grandmother.  She was never shy about rolling up her sleeves and getting dirty to get things done. Trinny was a very proud U.S. Naturalized Citizen. She traveled the world several times over, finding her favorite people in Africa. Trinny was willing to go beyond the job she was hired to do to be helpful. Trinny worked hard and gave up her world of comfort to give her daughter a world of freedom and opportunity by immigrating to the United States at 36 years of age without knowing the language. She was a proud woman who always looked elegant and beautiful, and her surroundings were always pristine. Trinny only had one daughter, but many said she was like their own mom.

Trinny did not want any type of funeral, service, celebration of life, or gathering in her name after she died. She believed that everyone should be there with friends and family while they are alive and tell them regularly that they are loved or anything they have to say to a person before a person dies, not after they are dead. As far as how to comfort her loved ones, she left it up to them to figure that out as long as it was not a gathering after her death. So, in lieu of a service or gathering, our family asks for her friends and family to do one or more of the following things in her honor:

  1. Have your own church or prayer groups pray for my mom’s soul to have eternal peace and pray for her loved ones left behind. If you are Catholic, have your church have a mass in her name and attend that mass.
  2. Please share a story about Trinny to help her family through the mourning process. Please share how you knew Trinny, what she looked like then, her personality, what you thought of her, or anything else you want to pass on to her family about Trinny through your eyes. All stories will be gathered and put in a book for the family as they come in. Send your stories to [email protected]
  3. Trinny loved to wear white clothing, so take a day to wear white in her name. White outfits were her signature outfits.
  4. Dance some cumbia, think of her while you listen to her favorite songs. Her favorite songs were: Pueblito Viejo by Garzon y Collzos, Espumas by Silva y Villalba, Pescador, lucero y rio by Silva y Villava, Oropel by Silva y Villalba, Guabina Chiquinquierna by Garzon y Collazos (This is HER song), Llamarada by Silaba Y Villalba, Colombia Tierra Querida by Lucho Bermudez , Vispera de Ano Nuevo by Guillermo Buitrago (Dance), La Gota Fria by Carlos Vives (Dance), La Pollera Colora by Pedro Salcedo (Dance), Loro Mi Corazon by Pastor Lopez (Dance), Navidad Negra by Jose Barros (Dance), Besame Morenita by Nelson Pendo (Dance), Che Che Cole by Willie Colon, Hector Lavoe, Prende la Vela by Luis Alfonzo, La Canoa Ranchaa by Grupo Niche (Dance), Baracunata by Lisandro Meza Dance), Vicente Fernandez - Volver Volver, Julio Iglesias from the 70s, Jose Jose, Camilo Sesto, Samba Pa Ti by Santana.
  5. Buy yourself an orchid plant and name it “Trinny”, please. She would love that. Nurture it weekly in her name. Let’s see how long we can all keep “Trinny Orchids” alive in her name. Please send us a picture at [email protected] .

Trinny is survived by her second husband, Cam Walker Jr.; her only child, Maria Josefina Streidl (the love of her life); her son-in-law, William John Streidl; her granddaughter, Tatiana Nicole Streidl; her sisters, Fanny Mayer and Gladys Auer, and Judy Cabrera, her youngest brother Luis Enrique Cabrera, and many nieces and nephews (too many to list). Trinny was presided over in death by her father, Abdon Cabrera Ochoa; her mother, Mercedes de Cabrera Cuellar; her brothers, Abdon Cabrera Cuellar and Ricardo Cabrera Cuellar; and her ex-husband, James Albert Salazar (aka Jaime Alberto Salazar), whom she was married to for 18 years, was father to her only daughter, and one of her best friends in life even after they divorced in 1984.
