Jose De La Luz Salcido passed away on October 21, 2024. He will be greatly missed. Jose journey started on February 18, 1928 in a small town called Presidio, Texas. He was the fifth oldest of seven children to Jose De La Luz and Ygnacia Salcido.

Over the years Jose family had grew into 8 children including, Joesph, Mary-Eva, Concha, Connie, Linda, Ernie, Louie, and Mike. In addition to his children, he has 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

Jose is survived by 1 sibling; half-brother Joe Ramirez. He is preceded in death by his parents Jose De La Luz and Ygnacia Salcido; sister Lancha, brother Manuel, brother Chon, sister Francisca, sister Yenco, sister Chema, brother Chavel, son Louie, son Mike, son Joseph and beloved wife Paula.

During the great depression, while working as a migrant worker in Bakersfield, CA. he would later meet his wife Paula Martinez whom he married. They spent 65 years creating a life defined by their shared values and quiet resilience before she passed away in 2017.

He entered the workforce, joining his family in the cotton fields of Texas by the time he was 11 years old to contribute to the family’s survival. He attended a trade school to become a chrome plating that manufactured in aircraft parts and would eventually move to Arizona. He worked for a chrome plating company until his retirement. He was a man of few words that never asked for much. He worked hard, drove simple vehicles, lived a modest life, enjoyed family gatherings, and never took anything in life for granted.

Jose journey will come to an end on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Meldrum Mortuary located on 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa, AZ. 85201 wit viewing at 2:00pm.
