LaVonna Lee Zimmerman
November 6th, 1954 - November 3rd, 2024
LaVonna Lee Zimmerman, a beloved member of the Seaside, California community, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on November 3, 2024, just shy of her 70th birthday. Born on November 6, 1954, in Eta Jima, Japan, LaVonna was the cherished daughter of Mutsumi Fujihara Taylor and Bobby Lee Burrous, who predeceased her. LaVonna spent her life embodying compassion, love, and an open-hearted spirit that touched everyone she met.
A devoted mother, LaVonna is survived by her three children: Rafael L. Grijalva, Nathan Grijalva, and LaVonna Rose Williams, as well as her stepdaughter, Jenna Zimmerman. Her legacy extends to her five adoring grandchildren: Laila, Raiden, Jacob, Zoey and Sofie. In 2003, LaVonna found love once more and married James Zimmerman, with whom she shared more than twenty years of adventures, building a beautiful home in Seaside, and exploring the states, along with enjoying camping trips and car shows. Family was at the heart of her life, and her home was often the site of joyous celebrations and holiday gatherings.
Professionally, LaVonna dedicated 16 years of service to the City of Seaside as a Records Coordinator, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues for her unwavering dedication and work ethic.
In recent years, after receiving a cancer diagnosis, LaVonna's spiritual journey took on profound significance for her. She found solace in her Christian faith, embracing it wholeheartedly. Her baptism on October 6th, alongside her granddaughter Laila, marked a meaningful chapter in her life, underscoring her profound connection to her beliefs.
Known for her strength and grace through life’s challenges, LaVonna leaves behind a legacy that exemplifies compassion and open-heartedness. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, whose lives she enriched with her warmth and kindness.
A memorial service to celebrate LaVonna's life will be held on November 23rd at 11 AM, with the burial to follow. All who knew her are invited to join in honoring her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on everyone she met.
