Honoring Monterey's Legacy with Multicultural Funeral Services Since 1946
Centrally located on the Monterey Peninsula, Mission Mortuary has been the premier funeral home choice for Monterey and the entire peninsula for decades. Mission Mortuary opened its doors in 1946, first on Munras Avenue in Monterey and to our current location on Camino El Estero, walking distance to the Pacific Ocean and area cemeteries, in 1952.
Despite our long history, we have evolved to meet the changing needs of our families. Our facility includes spaces both large and small. Whether a handful of friends and family or a large crowd, we can accommodate all. As a reflection of our commitment to our diverse region, we offer multicultural funerals.
Mission Memorial Park opened in 1934 as Mission Memorial Cemetery and for many years was run by the City of Monterey. In 1988, Monterey Peninsula Mortuary opened on the grounds of our beautiful Seaside location. In 2007, we closed our Chapel of Seaside at our Noche Buena location and merged the two to become Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park.
