Gary Leslie Arnold
March 9th, 1946 - October 10th, 2024
Gary Leslie Arnold entered heaven on October 10, 2024, with his wife at his side in Gilbert, Arizona. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10 am at Compass Christian Church at 1825 S Alma School Road, Chandler, AZ 85286. The family is inviting anyone who would like to join them on that day to celebrate his release from the disease he was fighting.
Gary was born on March 9, 1946, in Lincoln, Illinois. He graduated from San Jose High School in 1964. Gary participated in basketball and baseball in high school and was a part of the mixed choir, a boy's octet, and FFA. He earned many awards during that time, including Citizen of the Week and President of the Class in his junior year, and became a member of NHS. He was also involved in his church as the President of the Walther League and a choir member. In high school, one of Gary's teachers took him on a college visit to the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he decided to attend and earned a BSME in Mechanical Engineering. He was also involved with the fraternity Tau Omega Mu. During his Senior year, 1968, he was listed in the "Who's Who of American College Students".
His career in information technology in the medical field involved traveling nationwide and assisting various hospitals and clinics with programs and systems. He worked with multiple companies from 1970 until his retirement in 2007. While working with Marquette Electronics, assisting in installing an electrocardiogram, he was seen by a Cycare Systems representative and told, "If you are ever looking for a new position, we are very interested in you." When he countered with a list of perks he needed to come to work for them, they countered with, "Ok, you can have all of them." Which started his time "Telling the programmers what to program."
Gary was an active church member throughout his lifetime in various capacities. Serving as a deacon at Orchard Street Christian Church in West Dallas, Wisconsin. When Gary moved to Dubuque, Iowa, and attended Dubuque Church of Christ, he was an active member, helping wherever he could between travel trips for work. While living in Chandler, Arizona, Gary served as an Elder at Chandler Christian Church until he moved to Montgomery, Alabama, where he also served as an elder at Cornerstone Christian Church. Once Gary relocated to Florence, Arizona, he returned to Chandler Christian Church, now known as Compass Christian Church, where he attended and was a Facilities team member until his retirement in 2018.
Gary loved and was very proud of his family. He loved attending all the sporting events, choir and band concerts, and musicals involving his children and grandchildren. Anytime his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were around, he always had an infectious smile and a gleam of pride in his eyes.
Gary L. Arnold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois (Embree) Arnold; their children Jeff (Tina) Arnold, Mindy (Mike) Blevins, and Beth (Ron) Gospodarek; his 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his brother Randy (Kathy) Arnold, and his sister Sue Arnold.
