Doris Stoner, born July 16, 1937, in Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away at Venice Hospital on November 7, 2024. She graduated from Millersville University with a degree in reading. She was a loving wife of 66 years to Reid Stoner. She will be deeply missed by her son, Reid, his wife Jennifer, and their grandchildren Allison and Evan, along with their two great-grandchildren, Vivian and Graham.

Doris was known to her friends as a lucky golfer, having achieved five holes-in-one. She was also a fantastic cook and baker, always delighting friends and family with her treats. Doris was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed making quilts and selling them at the Shrimp Festival.

Her most cherished years were spent as a first grade reading teacher, where she played a pivotal role in preparing college students for their teaching careers. Doris’s legacy of kindness, talent, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky to know her. 

A graveside service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30AM on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at Plantation Golf and Country Club, 500 Rockley Blvd, Venice, FL 34293.
