October 10th, 1926 - November 17th, 2024
Pearl Elaine Nicholson, 98, passed away on November 17, 2024 in Winter Haven, FL. Pearl was born on October 10, 1926 in Geneva, IL to George and Martha Rouse.
Survived by: Three children: Karen Hackler, husband John of Daytona Beach Shores, FL Kathy Devor of Winter Haven, FL and Kris Dusseault, husband Chuck of Manchester NH, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and sister Jackie Inglis of Rockford, IL.
Preceded in death by her parents George and Martha Rouse, her husband of 62 years Bill, a sister Betty and brother Chuck.
Mom enjoyed traveling with Dad all around the United States including Alaska and Hawaii when he was alive. Once settling down in Florida they enjoyed cruising which continued with Kathy after Dad passed. She was always ready to take a trip for special events such as weddings and graduations.
Mom loved dancing. There are family pictures that show her and Dad dancing to Lawrence Welk on a Saturday evening in their living room with Mom in her robe. Later at the Oakwood dances she enjoyed dancing with a couple of special guys who knew when certain songs played, they had to find Pearl. Her and Bill's song was "I Left My Heart in San Francisco", but "Moon River" was a close second.
Mom created beautiful, counted cross-stitch. She did birth announcements and wedding announcements for all the grandchildren. She also did baby quilts for the great grands. In between times she would also do counted cross-stitch on sweatshirts or make a special piece for gifts or to just give to someone special.
Pearl (also known as Pete) will be missed by all!!
Memorial/Celebration of life to be February 1, 2025, at Beymer Memorial UMC at 11:00 am.
