Deneen Rogers, 84, passed away on November 15th, 2024 in Mesa, Arizona.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Kevin & Heather Cox; three grandchildren: Emily (William) Wadsworth, Addison (Mikel) Cox, and Quenten Cox; 5 great grandchildren: Daniel, Grant, Amy, Sarah, and Samuel; and her siblings: Jared (Darlene) Rogers, Ada (Ray) Ison, and Renny (Cindy) Rogers.

Deneen was born in Mesa to Denvon & Mona Rogers and grew up in Chandler.  She was a third-generation Arizonan and came from hearty pioneer stock. She was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was proud of her heritage and honored it throughout her life. Like her mother, Deneen was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers for several years.

An avid gardener, Deneen learned how to grow vegetables, ornamental plants and fruit trees. Her favorite thing to grow was flowers of all kinds. She was a member of the East Valley Gardener’s Club for over twenty years. She loved plants that had a story behind them and shared many of her plants, cuttings and produce over the years.

Deneen was a hairdresser for over fifty years. After graduating from Chandler High in 1958 she went to beautician school then went to BYU. After about a year, she came home to Chandler and started working with her mother in her parents’ barber/beauty shop in Chandler. She married Scott Cox in 1961. Deneen spent many hours at the side of her beloved father as they fished and hunted in many states.

She had mastered techniques of food preservation. She loved to can food and use a dehydrator, especially if the food came from her own garden and trees. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed hosting dinner parties. Deneen helped her family cook Dutch oven meals for different occasions many times over the years.

Deneen was welcomed into Heaven by her parents Denvon & Mona, her sister Mona Jean, her grandparents Cecil & Vera Rogers, and James & Adah Martin, and many more loved ones who have gone before.

She was fiercely devoted to her family and was beyond generous and kind to those she knew.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Sky Vista Assisted Living for their tender and loving care of her this last year, and Aegis Hospice for their kind watch over her recently.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22nd, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Noble Ward LDS Church at 10305 E. Southern Ave. in Mesa, with a viewing in the same building beforehand at 9:00 a.m. Immediately after the funeral, a graveside service will be held at the Mesa Cemetery 1212 N. Center St. in Mesa.
