George Edd Goddard, Jr.
October 27th, 1957 - November 18th, 2024
In Loving Memory Of
George Edd Goddard, Jr., a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 67. Born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, George dedicated his life to serving his country and cherishing his family.
George enlisted in the Air Force in 1975, embarking on a distinguished career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. His bravery and expertise led him to diffuse bombs, render safe conventional and nuclear weapons, and serve in various locations including the Philippines, Okinawa, California, and Florida. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant, retiring in 1995 after 20 years of dedicated service. A highlight of his career included working alongside President Ronald Reagan and the Secret Service at the President's ranch.
While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, George met the love of his life, Theresa, who was also serving in the Air Force. They were married at the U.S. Consulate in Naha, Okinawa, before moving to the Philippines where their son, Nicholas, was born. Later, while stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, they welcomed their daughter, Elizabeth.
Following his military retirement, George continued his career as an explosives expert on Cape Canaveral, ensuring the safety of rocket launches. He later transitioned to a career in computer science, working as a network administrator for the State of Florida in Viera, where he had the pleasure of working in the same building as Theresa.
George's commitment to service extended beyond his military career. He was an active member of various Masonic organizations and the Azan Shrine, dedicating his time to helping others in need.
A true patriot with a passion for life, George enjoyed watching drag racing, playing golf with loved ones, and collecting bourbon. He was a captivating storyteller, known for sharing his incredible life experiences with passion and humor. Above all, George cherished his family. He was immensely proud of his children: Nicholas, a Commander in the Navy, and Elizabeth, a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. He welcomed his daughter-in-law, Joelyn, into the family with open arms in 2013. His five grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Mia, Nico, and Oliver, were the light of his life.
Above all, George cherished his wife, Theresa. Their 45-year marriage was a testament to their enduring love and shared adventures. George is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa; his son, Nicholas and his wife Joelyn; his daughter, Elizabeth; and his five grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
