Reynaldo Castillo
1938 - 2024
It is with great sorrow that the family of Reynaldo Castillo, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, announces his passing on November 16, 2024, at the age of 85. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Reynaldo went to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith.
Reynaldo was born on November 28, 1938, in Davao City, Philippines, and was raised in a devoted Adventist household. He lived a life filled with purpose, working for 20 years as a shipping lines clerk in the Philippines, a job he cherished for the opportunity to assist passengers and help with shipments.
In 1983, Reynaldo migrated to the United States, first bringing his son AJ, followed by his wife Elena and daughters Araceli and Rachelle a year later. His early years in the U.S. were spent in Hawaii, where he worked in various roles before moving to Seaside, California. There, he spent 12 years as a shipping clerk for a tie manufacturing company in Monterey, California, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Reynaldo was especially proud of the trust his supervisors placed in him to handle important shipping projects.
In 1960, Reynaldo met his loving wife, Elena Amora, and together they raised four children: Marlene, Araceli, AJ, and Rachelle. Tragically, Reynaldo lost his beloved Elena in 1993, followed by his eldest daughter Marlene in 1994, a loss that he carried with him throughout his life.
Reynaldo was a man of many talents. His love for music and the arts brought joy to his family and friends. Whether ballroom dancing or singing karaoke, Reynaldo found joy in any gathering that featured these activities. His creative side was also expressed through photography and crafting, skills that he took great pride in. Additionally, Reynaldo had a knack for fixing cars, and he loved taking road trips with his family, ensuring that his vehicles were always in top condition for their adventures.
A man of wit and humor, Reynaldo’s love for telling jokes and funny stories will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His laughter and the joy he brought to others were a bright light in his family’s lives.
In his final days, Reynaldo called upon the Lord and asked for forgiveness, and his family takes comfort in knowing that he has been “promoted to glory” and is now in Heaven, waiting to be reunited with his loved ones.
Reynaldo is survived by his three children, Araceli, AJ, and Rachelle, and seven grandchildren, who will forever remember his love, humor, and the many ways he enriched their lives.
Services will be held at Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park, Seaside 1915 Ord Grove Avenue Seaside, CA 93955 on December 5, 2024, at 9:30 AM, followed by graveside at 12:30 pm. A reception to follow after services.
