Lois LaRue Coltrane Gaddy
April 13th, 1939 - December 3rd, 2024
Lois LaRue Coltrane Gaddy, 85, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Delma Ray Gaddy, who predeceased her in 2016. They were married for 59 years. She was born on April 13, 1939 in High Point, NC to the late Branson Thomas Coltrane and Thelma Pauline Elder Coltrane. Our mother gave us a strong foundation with her deep love for her family. She showed us and lived out her faith and trust in our Heavenly Father. Additionally, there are many friends, with whom she enjoyed a life-long Christian fellowship. She is survived by one son, Randy Earl Gaddy (Vicky) of Bedford; two daughters, Karen G. Allen (Randy) of Cary, N.C. and Sandra G. Dowdy, (Whitney) of Bedford; two sisters, Irene Bowman (Dene) and Gail Coltrane of Archdale, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Robert Michael Gaddy, Tiffany Lynn Gaddy Fulcher (Carter), Emily Anne Joyner Rutland (Eric), Brandon James Gaddy (Chandler), Benjamin Tyler Dowdy (Morgan), Tabitha Leighann Gaddy, Christy Joy Gaddy Nichols (Donny), Nathan Michael Dowdy (Kaitlyn), and Whitney Katherine Dowdy; and twelve great-grandchildren, Lily Bree Reynolds, Hayden Lynn Fulcher, Madison Ray Fulcher, Branson Lee Gaddy, Lawson Chandler Gaddy, Hadley LaRue Nichols, McKinnley Grace Nichols, Natalie Marie Rutland, Keegan Michael Dowdy, Case Alan Dowdy, Colton Ray Dowdy, and Samson Michael Dowdy. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia Marie Gaddy Joyner. A funeral service will be held, Friday, December 6th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with Pastor Phillip Kelly and Pastor Stan Ogden officiating. The family will receive friends, Friday, December 6, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Virginia Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association. Diuguid Funeral Service Crematory Waterlick Chapel, 237-2722, is serving the family.
