Susan Elaine Shaffer, 74, of Englewood, Florida, passed away on December 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born on January 5, 1950 in Dennison, Ohio, to the late William and Louise Crouse. She graduated from Palmetto High School in Palmetto, Florida in 1968, and attended Alexandria School of Nursing. Sue worked as a nurse until retirement and later at Babe’s Hardware in Englewood, Florida.
Sue married Harry Paul Shaffer on November 23, 1973 at Del Ray Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
She loved spending time with family and rescuing and caring for multiple cats and dogs. Her favorite place was the beach, where she moved to in 2011 with her husband after retirement.
Sue is survived by her husband of 51 years; two daughters, Amy Grose (Larry) of Lorton, Virginia and Abby Kenerly (Bill) of Greenville, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Molly Anthony (Joshua), Mason Grose, and Will and Paige Kenerly; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Debra Shipley (Tim) of Venice, Florida and Pattie Montgomery (Bruce) of Columbus, Georgia; nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Susie Shaffer of Richmond, Virginia.
A private, graveside service will be held on December 19th at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia.
