Memorial

Mementos

In loving memory of Alex Mari Gross (formerly named Jill) of Cloquet, MN who was called home by her Heavenly Father on November 26, 2024.

Alex is survived by her sister, Berta Swoverland (Sheboygan, WI), and her step-sister, Michelle Schubitzke (Duluth, MN). She is also survived by her nephew, Paul Campbell (Las Vegas); her niece, Jennifer Campbell (Sheboygan Falls, WI); niece Stephanie Hurst (Sheboygan Falls, WI), uncle Gary Anton (Carlton, MN) and many cousins.

Alex was preceded in death by her parents (Catherine McDonald, Bert Gross) and step-father (Robert McDonald), her only child Bryan Merrill, and her life partner Brian Hendrickson.

She was a proud mother of her only son Bryan and her favorite pastime was watching him play sports. There was no where she would rather be than cheering him on from the bleachers. When Bryan passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22, part of Alex died with him and she was never the same.

Alex was a natural born caretaker. She took great pleasure in taking care of those around her including her mother, step-father, and life partner prior to their passings. Helping individuals with barriers re-enter the work force was her most recent, most rewarding and favorite job which she held for the last four years.

When not working, Alex could be found taking long car rides with no destination in mind. She loved theme parks and there was not a ride she feared. She also enjoyed playing miniature golf, bowling, and casinos. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Wild fan. Over the last few years, she enjoyed vacations with family to Puerta Vallarta, a 7-day cruise, and Wisconsin Dells.

Alex and her caring spirit will be greatly missed by those that knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Hope Church, 55 Amory Road, Cloquet, MN 55720.
