Walter Brian Alfrey (Brian Alfrey), 52, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida. He was born Wednesday, March 29th, 1972, in Melbourne, Florida.
Brian leaves behind his loving wife, Renee Marie Alfrey, his two daughters; Diane Alfrey and Desiree Alfrey (Joseph); his grandchild Jessilynn “JJ” Alfrey; and his two brothers, Paul Sidney Alfrey, and Jesse Jay Alfrey; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sidney Alfrey Sr. and Elaine Williams Alfrey.
Brian Alfrey was the most loving, caring, and giving man. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a cherished Pop Pop, a loving brother, and the best person to call a friend. Brian was born and raised in his hometown of Melbourne, where he has called home for 52 years and has been a friend to everyone in the area. He had been with his wife, Renee for 33 loving years, where they found each other and were the loves of each other's lives. They created a beautiful family and had his daughters Diane, and Desiree Alfrey, who were the lights of his life.
Brian was a hardworking man, a man who built Alfrey Roofing from the ground up with his wife and brothers, Renee, Paul, and Jesse. His company and his crew was his third child, he had a unique gift, where no person was a stranger to him. Where most of his crew has been with him since the beginning. He accepted everyone and treated everyone with the utmost respect. Integrity and honesty meant everything to him, like he always said “your name and your word is all you have in this world”. Brian always saw the best in people, and he had a way with words and his humor that left an everlasting impression on every person he met.
Brian had many hobbies, one being fishing. Brian was known in Sebastian Inlet for catching the biggest flounder. He was even put in the newspaper in 2005 with the headline being “Alfrey credits partner for flounder of a lifetime”, where he caught a flounder that was fourteen pounds and one ounce, and that is just the kind of man he was, he made sure that if he was being seen and praised, so was all of his friends. Everyone knew that when they saw the boat that said “Fishin Division” that Brian and his best friends Mike, Mark, and Ronny Parkhurst would be catching all the “doormats”.
Another one of Brian’s many hobbies was playing cornhole, where he was in leagues, and even travelled to different competitions. Brian never failed to pull off a perfect game, where throwing all four bags in was just repetition to him.
Brian was also known as a coach to many, where he first started coaching his eldest daughter, Diane, in softball as an assistant coach. He was the first person to get a limousine for the girls when they were going to districts. He always went the extra mile to make every experience extra special. He then started coaching his youngest daughter, Desiree, where he created “Team Toxic”. He was known and loved as a coach so much so that he actually had so many parents requesting to put their children on his team, where there were not enough spots on a team for all the requests. He taught many children how to play the game of softball and made the best memories with his youngest daughter, where they won many championships at Eau Gallie Little League. He was even looking forward to coaching his grand-daughter, JJ, with his daughters when she became the age to play. Brian never missed any games of his daughters, whether it was little league, travel ball, or high school. No matter what, he always prioritized his family.
Brian was larger than life, and that is how he lived. He made everyone laugh, and always put a smile on your face. He was the most selfless man and would literally take the shirt off his back for anyone. He made a huge effort in the community, more than most know and the community will miss him greatly. If you knew Brian, you knew the love he shared for his wife, his children, and his granddaughter. A true god loving, family man.
Brian will be loved and missed immensely, as he made an everlasting impression on each and every person he crossed paths with.
