Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Janet Barbara BeMent
September 21st, 1931 - December 5th, 2024
We remember Janet Barbara (DeBiase) BeMent who’s spirit departed us peacefully at home in Venice, Florida on Dec 5, 2024 at the age of 93. Janet was born on September 21, 1931 to Biaggio DeBiaso and Carmella (Capuano) DeBiaso in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, brother Angelo DeBiase, sister-in-law Dorothy (Gledhill) DeBiase and her husband Claude BeMent. She is survived by her niece Karen (Mike), nephew David (Janice), great nephew Michael (Amanda) and Claude’s children, Patrick, Tammy, Mark and grandchildren.
Janet led a very adventurous life living in the Bahamas in her younger years, before relocating to Florida. She had a successful career working as a comptroller/accountant at several companies including a radio station in Miami, until later in her career at Builders of Distinction in Nokomis.
Janet met her husband Claude, at Fincher Oldsmobile in Miami when she was looking to lease a new car. It seems beside leasing a car she got a new lease on life/love. Their relationship kindled and they married in 1980 at Siesta Key, FL. After several years of residing in Florida they decided to retire in San Jose, Costa Rica. That adventure was short lived, as Janet became ill and they moved back to Florida. Her illness proved not to be serious, however they decided to continue their life in Florida.
Janet will be remembered as being the Queen of the seas, as she loved to cruise and was on at least 30 cruises. She was generous to a fault, kind hearted and had a fun-loving, young at heart and spirited attitude. Janet’s zeal for life is already missed, however we envision her at eternal peace cruising the seas of heaven.
The family wishes to thank Laura Serrapica for her friendship, compassion and care she showed Janet the past many months, as well as the staff at Tidewell Hospice in her final days.
