Raymond "Ray" John Heisler
September 1st, 1938 - December 7th, 2024
Raymond (Ray) John Heisler, 86, of Golden, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 7, 2024.
Ray was born September 1, 1938, in Esmond, North Dakota, to Rose and Nicholas Heisler. Ray attended school in Esmond, and entered the Marines in 1956. He served our country for three years, and was honorably discharged in 1959.
Ray met the love of his life, Margaret Schmaltz in 1959, and the two were married on August 6, 1962. Together they moved to Denver, Colorado, where they raised two children. Shortly after moving to Colorado, Ray began employment with ASARCO, where he worked for 38 years until he retired. Ray was an avid sportsman, spending much time on the golf course, playing softball, and bowling. Due to Ray’s love for horses, in 1965, he joined the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse. This was a small group of volunteer deputies who worked with their own horses, helping law enforcement with special events, and specific search and rescue activities. While Ray truly enjoyed playing sports, one of his greatest joys was spending time with grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife, Margaret, daughter Lisa Heisler, son Scott Heisler, granddaughter Savanna Benninger (Kevin), grandson Chance Heisler, his Brothers Don and Ron Heisler, and many nieces and nephews.
Ray is proceeded in death by both of his parents, brothers Nicholas, Rudy and Richard, sisters, Rosie, Virginia, Monica and Connie.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, December 18th, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 969 Ulysses Street, Golden, Colorado. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church hall.
