Dr. Reverend Leona Richbourg Coker received her Crown of Glory on December 12, 2024. She was founder of Nazareth Pentecostal Holiness Church. A servant of the Lord called to deliver His word on July 12, 1957 as an ordained minister; she was a member of the South Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Reverend Coker was a minister, missionary, and accomplished author. On June 2, 2019, she earned her Doctor of Divinity by All Nations Seminary at the age of 96 years old. Rev. Coker sought to innovate ways to continue Leona Coker Ministries, Inc., by radio, social media, newsletters, and appearances after her official retirement.
In addition to her love for our Lord, she loved making everything around her more beautiful. She was a Certified Interior Decorator and Certified Floral Designer. She was a small business owner to include a ladies’ dress shop and florist.
Reverend Leona Coker was married to Guy Blair Coker and had four children. She is survived by her daughters: Sylvia C. Dandridge (Jimmy – deceased), Barbara C. Hinton (Charles); 13 grandchildren, many great grand, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was reunited with those who went before her, to include: her loving parents, Junious and Annie Mariah Richbourg; her husband, Guy B. Coker; sons Guy “GB” Coker Jr and Derrel W. Coker; grandsons Stacey and Craig Hinton; and 6 siblings.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 10am at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. A visitation will be held at the funeral home the evening prior from 5pm until 7pm.
