Kimberly Lietz Clark
June 9, 1955 – December 9, 2024
Kimberly “Kim” Lietz Clark was born on June 9, 1955, to Eugene (“Gene”) and Edelgard Lietz Bordinat in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Gene was an Executive Vice President and automobile designer with Ford Motor Company and his contributions to the exterior designs of iconic vehicles like the Mustang were a source of pride for Kim. Edelgard was a fashion model and German immigrant. Kim was raised in the Detroit suburb along with her brothers, Kent and Kevin Bordinat, and often saw her sister Janice (“Jan”) and brother Gene (“Hap”).
After high school, Kim married Keith Clark, left the mosquitos and winters of the Midwest, and moved to Tucson, Arizona, where they began a life together in the Sonoran Desert surrounded by the beautiful mountain ranges they both adored. They raised two sons, Shannon and Stefan Clark. Unfortunately, the marriage failed, and Kim divorced in 1980, raising Shannon and Stefan as a single parent. Never one to shy from a challenge, Kim immediately got a job and set to the task of providing for her children. The family lived modestly, but Kim ensured that the boys had all manner of athletic, social, educational and travel opportunities, often working overtime to help make ends meet. She remained close with Keith until his death (1993), as well as the entire Clark family.
Kim was an avid equestrian in her youth, and her love of horses persisted throughout her life. She also enjoyed creative gourmet cooking, watching movies (especially romantic comedies and all things 1980s), designing and creating home artwork and accessories, and spending time with her friends, family and work colleagues. Her guilty pleasure was teaching her grandchildren how to play pranks on their parents while they were away on vacation.
Kim was hands on. She never backed away from a job, even a dirty one. She instilled in her children a strong work ethic and was regarded by her employers as a highly ethical and valuable employee who was a consummate team player. Spending time with her grandchildren usually involved time baking, building forts and watching movies with snacks in bed.
Kim peacefully passed away on December 9, 2024. She is survived by her sons, Shannon (Hallie Clark) and Stefan (Alexa Carr), and her grandsons, Carson and Harrison, and her brother Hap.
At Kim’s request, the family will have a small, private celebration of life at a later date. Those wishing to honor their memory of Kim are encouraged to consider a tax-deductible donation in her honor to Karuna Horse Rescue https://www.karunahorserescue.org/take-action-1
