Peter John Barnes, Jr., 64, of Rustburg, VA, passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 at Lynchburg General Hospital after a brief illness. Born December 17, 1960 in Harrisburg, PA, he was a son of the late Peter John Barnes and Patsy Morrison Barnes. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Marty Thomas Barnes. He was a plumber with Clyde Smith Plumbing and was a member of Rock Solid Church in Rustburg. He loved to garden and go camping. He is survived by a son, Matthew John Barnes (Michele) of Lynchburg; one brother Alban Barnes of Lynchburg; four sisters, Sandra Tharp (Michael) of Lynchburg, Angela Bowling (Kenneth), of Amherst, Roberta Fielder (Eddie) of Altavista and Vicky Harris of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Preston James Barnes and Bennett Matthew Barnes; his fiancé, Lisa Hill of Rustburg. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Diuguid Waterlick Chapel with Pastor Curtis Boley officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour immediately after the service at the funeral home. Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, 434-237-2722, is serving the family.
