Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Patricia F. Hodgkins
October 19th, 1941 - December 17th, 2024
Patricia F. Hodgkins, age 83, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2024. She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Hodgkins; sisters, Jackie Moritz, Sharon Sloan (Siebert) and Susan Burns; her children Suzanne Milliman (Ron) and Doug Foster (Carrie); step daughters Rebecca Grove (Timothy) and Elizabeth Wall (Basil), eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was born in Washinton, NJ to John and Mildred Flynn, and attended schools in NJ. She married and moved to Syracuse, NY. Her marriage ended and she moved to Baltimore, MD, to be near two sisters. A few years later she moved to North Port, FL to be near her aging mother. There she met Bruce Hodgkins, and they married, January 15, 2005, sharing life together for almost 20 years. They were looking forward to a planned move to Tennessee in 2025 to be near her son.
Pat was always active in church and made music wherever she went. She sang in choirs and played piano. In retirement she and Bruce would frequently go to nearby assisted living facilities to lead sing-alongs. Sometime in her church music involvement she became inspired by handbell ringing. Over the years she started and led 9 different handbell choirs in 5 different churches. Sharing her musical talents was one of her ways of giving back to God.
Pat always had great faith and relied on God to see her through the hard times. Her church life and her faith-infused music brought her great joy and peace and were an inspiration to many. Her son said that she was the best pray-er he has known.
If you wish to donate in Pat’s honor, the family recommends All Faith Food Bank, 8171 Blaikie Ct., Sarasota, (allfaithsfoodbank.org) which Pat strongly believed and frequently supported.
A memorial service will be held at Venice United Church of Christ, 620 Shamrock Blvd., Venice, FL 34293, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10:30 am. To share a memory of Par or to send a condolence to the family visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.
