With heavy hearts we announce that Jerome “Jerry” Francis Jaminet peacefully passed away on December 29, 2024 at his home in Venice, FL at the age of 85. He was a devoted husband to Jeri S. Jaminet; a loving father and grandfather; and a dear friend to many.

Jerry was born in Detroit, MI, graduated from the University of Detroit with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, married his college sweetheart, Annette Sloan, and accepted a job in San Diego, CA where they began their family. In Dec. 1968 he completed his MS in Aeronautical Engineering from USC San Diego before moving to CT for his career as a research engineer with (then) UTRC in East Hartford, CT. In 1996, many years after being widowed young, he married Jeri Smith. They decided in 2011 to move to sunny Venice, FL for their next chapter together.

Jerry was known for his gentle, sweet and patient demeanor; as well as a competitive streak that showed up in activities such as tennis and bridge; his engineer’s knack for fixing what was broken; his love of lottery scratch tickets and an often-irreverent sense of humor. He recognized the value of constant learning, such as competing in ACBL bridge tournaments, learning to play tennis and snow ski, getting a private pilot’s license and flying small planes, and road biking in New England and Florida until his stroke in 2018. Jerry enjoyed sharing his love of science by serving as a judge for the Connecticut Science Fair over many years. He was a lifelong supporter of the arts with subscriptions to theater, dance productions and the symphony. He believed you choose to be happy, and that one could find beauty, humor and fun even in the darkest of days. He was always polite and kind, offering sweetness and humor to all the medical and hospice people helping him in the end. His faith, and the communities, first at St Bernard Church, Rockville, CT and later Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Venice, FL sustained him always.

In addition to his loving wife Jeri, he is survived by his children, Paul (Shou-Ching) Jaminet, Linda (Steven Normand) Jaminet, Keith (Ursula Heger) Jaminet, Jerome Jr. (Maria) Jaminet, Mark (Trina) Jaminet, and Jeffrey Krom; stepchildren, Jennifer Lyons and Gordon Lyons; his siblings, Robert (Cecelia) Jaminet, Thomas Jaminet, Patricia (Richard) Augustyn, Lawrence Jaminet, and David Jaminet; and his brother-in-law, Frank Danik. He also leaves his twelve cherished grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife Annette, and his sisters Marilyn (Jerome) Palka and Teresa Danik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Church, Rockville, CT at a date to be determined by the family. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice or a charity of your choice.
