In Loving Memory of Dennis Joseph Wiseman
Dennis Joseph Wiseman, 71, of Davenport, FL, passed away on January 6, 2025, after a twenty-one-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
On October 16, 1953, he was born in Camden, NJ, to John and Mildred Wiseman (née Myers). John and Mildred raised Dennis, his sister, Eleanor, and his brother, John, in Pennsauken, NJ. Dennis graduated from Pennsauken High School in 1971. He met his loving wife of 43 years, Susan Wiseman (née Soehnle), in 1980. Following their marriage on June 20, 1981, Dennis and Susan lived in Sicklerville, NJ. On September 30, 1986, they moved to Woodbury Heights, NJ, where they raised their sons, Conn and Andrew Wiseman. Following their retirement, Dennis and Susan moved to Davenport, FL on July 15, 2014.
Dennis worked in sales and accounting for 45 years before his retirement in 2012. While balancing work and family responsibilities, Dennis returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rutgers University in Camden, NJ. He was a former member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church of Woodbury Heights, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Minister of the Word, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Woodbury, NJ. Dennis was a passionate sports enthusiast and a devoted Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles fan. In his younger years, he played football and baseball and later coached his sons’ baseball and soccer teams. Dennis was immensely proud of Andrew for his service in the United States Air Force and Conn for his service in the United States Marine Corps. Dennis and Susan were longtime US Naval Academy - New Jersey Parents’ Club (NJ PC) supporters. They loved spending time with NJ PC friends while feeding thousands of midshipmen at Naval Academy football tailgates.
In retirement, he enjoyed reading, playing bingo, going to the pool, and spending time with family and friends. Dennis particularly looked forward to “Thirsty Thursdays” with his friends at the firepit at their community clubhouse. He cherished his time with his grandson, Liam Wiseman, and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his granddaughter. Known for his jovial personality and humor, Dennis was a jokester who brought smiles to everyone around him with his wit and friendly demeanor. He brightened every room he entered and was a fast friend to everyone he met.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred, and his siblings, John Wiseman and Eleanor Neuenfeldt (née Wiseman). He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Susan Wiseman; his son, Conn Wiseman and wife, Brooke Wiseman (née Stokes), of Manassas, VA; his son, Andrew Wiseman, of Hampton Roads, VA; his grandson, Liam Wiseman; a forthcoming granddaughter; Eleanor’s husband Stephan Neuenfeldt; John’s wife Barbara Wiseman; and six nieces.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dennis’ life on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Montecito Clubhouse at 500 Del Webb Blvd, Davenport, FL 33837. In lieu of flowers, Dennis’ family asks that friends and family contribute to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
