Mary Joan Vik
July 15th, 1924 - January 14th, 2025
Vik, Mary Joan Hablas, Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Age 100, of St. Paul, MN (b. July 15, 1924 in St. Paul, MN). Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 14, 2025.
Raised in Fargo, ND. Served in the WAVES in WWII. Graduate of Sacred Heart HS and North Dakota State University. 1948 married Vincent E. Vik. Moved permanently to St. Paul in 1950. Retired HS teacher from St. Paul Public Schools. Also worked at Center for Austrian Studies at U of M. Avid bridge player. Enjoyed participation in sports, and was a big MN sports fan. Enthusiastic volunteer for many organizations - most notably, a longtime member of the League of Women Voters - St. Paul.
Preceded in death by husband Vincent E, sons Vincent C. and Stephan, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Survived by son John (Monica), and daughters Barbara, Mary (Lemmons) and Teri (Pardo), many nieces and nephews, and 3 sisters.
Visitation Friday, January 31st from 9:00-10:00am, Mass at 10:00 am, luncheon following Mass at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 1079 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN 55105.
Memorials preferred to League of Women Voters - St. Paul or St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
