Husband, Daddy, Tata always in our hearts

Peter “Pete” Lopez Razo was and is an amazing spirit of strength and love.

Pete was born on July 23rd in 1944 to Artemisa Lopez and Robert Razo in Mesa, Arizona.  He was raised by his beloved Nana, Guadalupe Garcia Lopez and his uncles Tony and Luis. Growing up in Tempe, he played baseball, swam the Tempe canal, ran track, and his summers were spent with his Tias picking cotton to help the family.

In a summer in Tempe, Arizona when Pete was fourteen years old, he met the love of his life and other half of his heart Rosalie Gonzales.  The story goes he whispered to his Tia Eva, “I will marry her.”

Pete was a proud Amry Veteran traveling to Colorado, Korea, and Kansas as part of his service.  Upon completion of service, he moved to California where he worked, went to college, and did what he would do and married Rosalie in 1966.  Rosalie’s California family embraced Pete as their own and welcomed him into their hearts and shared memories.  The California years were a time of Salazar Family celebrations.

The early years of marriage were full of travel, laughter, fun times, dancing into the night, parties with families and friends, and get away weekends to Tahoe.  Pete always wanted children and in California 1971 Diana was born, followed by Adrienne in 1973.  The Razo’s made the decision to move to Arizona in 1977 where baby girl Sylvia was born in 1979.  Moving to Arizona provided a connection to all the Arizona family and his brothers, sisters, and cousins who opened their arms to the little Razo family.

Pete cherished his family who were always a priority.  His daughters were given the world and loved with all his heart. Pete’s family continued to grow, in 1994 his first grandson, Jacob was born. In 2000 Nadia his favorite granddaughter was born (his only granddaughter),  in 2004 grandson Quinton arrived, and in 2019 his great-granddaughter Mavis joined the Razo family.

Pete lived a full well travelled life and always had a sense of adventure. He travelled to Paris, New York, Washington, Rome, Capri and enjoyed every moment.  He lived his life in his own way doing what made him and his family happy.  He enjoyed family gatherings strolls across the dance floor and packing the car to take off to a new adventure.

We all will miss his honest, caring, and gentle advice. His constant support and loving words of “Love you” and “Be careful” and “call me when you get home.”

The Razo Girls will miss their Daddy’s hugs, jokes, kisses, kind words of encouragement, and telling each of us “You are my favorite.”.

Pete Razo was a Son, Grandson, Nephew, Husband, Father, Tata, Tio, Brother, Cousin, and Friend who was loved by many.  We say goodbye for now, until we see you again. You are gone from this world, but not forgotten as you have made an imprint in our hearts now and into eternity.
