Milton Rome, 81, of Chandler, AZ passed away on January 19, 2025 after a long and love filled life.
Milton was born in Columbus, Georgia on February 13, 1943 to Jacob and Sylvia Mae Rome. He was 1 of 5 children - his two older brothers: Curtis and Thomas and two younger sisters, Loula Mae and Sylvia. Milton went to Spencer High School in Columbus where he was a member of the band as a tuba player. He graduated in June of 1961.
He joined the United States Air Force on February 12, 1962 as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician. Milton was soon deployed to Vietnam and was a member of 4 different campaigns during the Vietnam War. After returning to the states in 1964, Milton was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Mesa, Arizona and that is when he met his first wife, Sharon Rome. The two were married in June of 1966. Milton and Sharon had a family of seven: three biological
sons-Milton Rome Jr (Dora), Keith D. Rome (Monica) and Anthony D.Rome; Andrew Limbs (Gerri), Scott Limbs {Tania), Jeffrey Todd Guilliam-Rome and Lisa Limbs. Milton was transferred to North Dakota, New Mexico and Utah until 1978 when he returned back to Arizona where he and his family called home.
To his family, Milton was a source of unwavering support and love. Milton and Sharon shared a love for the Blues and during their almost 50 years of marriage traveled to Laughlin with Sharon's brother's -Sterline (Beatrice) Bonner and Delbert(Darlene) Bonner many times. Family weekend gatherings were always Milton's source of entertainment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and listening to music.
Milton retired from the U.S Air Force in 1983 after his service of 20 years. After the passing of his first wife in 2017, Milton married his second wife Dorthy in 2019 and the two were married until Milton's passing. He was an active member at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Milton was preceded in death by his mother and father, oldest brother Curtis, first wife Sharon and daughter Lisa. He is survived by his second wife, Dorothy, his son's, Andrew (Geri), Scott (Tania), Jeffrey, Milton (Dora), Keith (Monica) and Anthony; daughter-in-laws: Dora, Monica,
Tonya and Geri; Sisters: Loula Mae and Sylvia, Brother: Thomas; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
