Kim Howard Wilson, 78, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.

Born in Michigan to Bill and Betty Wilson, Kim was the eldest of seven children. Growing up alongside Karen, Cory, David, Richard, Ronald, and John, Kim embraced his role as the guiding light of his siblings, offering wisdom and kindness at every turn.

Kim graduated from Northern University in Marquette, MI, where he developed a deep love for learning and adventure. A natural explorer, he traveled the world, gaining experiences that shaped his outlook on life. Eventually, his journey brought him back to Michigan to pursue his true calling: teaching.

Kim began his career in the East Detroit public school system before moving to Arizona, where he spent 25 years teaching English and drama in the Tempe Union School District. He was more than an educator—he was a mentor, confidant, and friend to countless students and colleagues. Kim’s classroom was a space of creativity, encouragement, and connection, where every student felt valued. His impact extended far beyond the classroom, as he often stopped to chat with former students around town, always remembering their stories and dreams.

On February 5, 1982, Kim married Nancy Lombardi, the love of his life and his partner in adventure. Together, they raised their son, Kevin, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections.

Kim’s passions were as diverse as his life’s experiences. He loved outdoor activities such as skiing and camping, found serenity from reading and bonded with family over shared cooking experiences. But above all, Kim was a connector—bringing people together through coffee chats, heartfelt phone calls, and family reunions. He had a unique gift for fostering relationships and ensuring no one ever felt alone.

Kim is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Kevin; his brother, Richard; and many beloved cousins in California, Missouri, and Michigan. He will also be deeply missed by his favorite companion and loyal sidekick, Riley the Dog.

A celebration of Kim’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity in support of those impacted by the wildfires in CA.  Honoring his life’s work and passion, you may to choose to select Project Hope, Save the Children, or the National Search Dog Foundation.

Kim Howard Wilson was a teacher, a traveler, a storyteller, and a friend to all. His warmth, wisdom, and compassion leave behind a legacy of love and connection that will live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
