With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, Paul Louis Shankle, Jr., who was taken from us too soon on January 23, 2025 at the age of 46. He gained his wings after a painful battle with cancer. Paul brought joy, light, and sometimes frustration into our lives with his kind heart, smile, and boundless debating. He loved music, reading and playing Dungeons and Dragons with his best friend Justin Grindley. Though his time with us was brief, the depth of love we shared will forever remains in our hearts.

Paul is survived by his parents, Paul and Eva Shankle of Palm Bay, Florida, his sister Tracy Schmidt and her lifetime partner Patricia Griffin of Palm Bay, Florida, his sister Michelle Powell and her fiancé Dougles Bennett of Mardela Springs, Maryland, his niece Taylor Powell and  her fiancé Adam Rippons of Cambridge, Maryland, his parental uncle and aunt, Ed and Joan Shankle of Bolton, Massachusetts, his maternal aunt, Peggy Hubble of Dublin, Virginia, as well as many cousins, their spouses and children. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Helen Shankle of Woburn, Massachusetts, his paternal grandparents, Judson and Carmel Shankle of Palm Bay, Florida, maternal grandfather, Lee Roy Carte, his maternal grandparents, Dennis and Ethel Towle, his maternal uncle, Lee Carter, and his maternal uncle in law, Mark Hubble, all of Dublin, Virginia, and also his beloved dogs, Brimy and RT.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held, but the family encourages friends to share memories and celebrate Paul's life in their own way.
