In Loving Memory

Carolyn R. Cliett, 89, of Columbia, SC passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025. She was born January 8, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Stan W. Scritchfield and Monteen O. Scritchfield. She was born and raised in Augusta, GA prior to relocating to South Carolina.

 

She married the love of her life, William Dixon Cliett (Bill), on June 9, 1954. She was an avid gardener, truly enjoyed being outside in the sunshine, loved collecting many figurines, Madame Alexander dolls and other antique items. She was a long-time member of the Eastern Star, Mid- Carolina Daylily Society, The South Carolina Iris Society, Lower Richland Community Action Team and Richland County Sheriff Department Citizen’s Academy to include numerous other volunteer organizations.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Tommie R. Newman and leaves behind her two sons, William D. Cliett (Linda) and Timothy D. Cliett; grandchildren, Daniel Cliett (Aghtan), Jessica Haygood (Nicholas), Joshua Hodge (Tammy); several great grandchildren; her brother, Stan W. Scritchfield (Debbie), numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

 

Graveside burial services will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Greenlawn Memorial Park located at 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will have a private viewing for immediate family at the Thompson Funeral Home prior to the burial service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mid-Carolina Daylily Society at Garden Club Council Building Maxcy Gregg Park 1605 Park Circle, Columbia, SC 29201 or The South Carolina Iris Society at sjbhi@yahoo.com.
