James Christian Dittel, Sr.
July 12th, 1940 - January 31st, 2025
James C. Dittel, Sr., age 84, of St. Paul, passed away on January 31, 2025.
Jim retired from Dun & Bradstreet in 1993. In retirement he enjoyed vacationing in the Brainerd area with his family, helping his children with their home improvement projects, hunting, fishing, bowling, woodworking, gardening, and working on puzzles. His quick wit and dry sense of humor will be missed deeply.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Chris and Dorothy and infant sister; grandmother, Pauline Jankowski; parents-in-law John & Joan Zywicke; and nephews & nieces Billy (Kathy), Johnny, Jimmy, Barbara, Diane, & Rosie Lieberman.
Survived by his children Karen (Frank) Marano, James Dittel Jr, Steve Dittel, Susan (Dan) Sutliff, Lori (Dave) Grounds, Julie Fischer, Patricia (Rufino) Rodriguez; grandchildren Francesca (Tom Jacobson) & Chiara Marano, Michael & Emily Dittel, Emmett (Kamila) & Ethan Sutliff, Patrick & Siena Grounds, Reyez, Maricruz, Giavonna & Maximus Rodriguez; his brother Jerome (Barbara) Dittel; nephews & nieces Tom (Vina Moeun) Lieberman, Pat Lieberman, Annie (Jim) Richter, Mary (John) Tonsager, Joan Lieberman; and grand & great grand nieces and nephews Matthew Wojcik, Sarah (Teip) Matigann, & McKenna Vixayvong, Will (Sara Gaalaas) & Leo Richter, Tom (Cory) Richter, Betsy & Scarlett Richter-Gifford, Joe (Kristen) Tonsager, Andy (Sarah) Tonsager, Jake Tonsager.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00AM Saturday, February 15 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 515 South Albert Street, Saint Paul, MN with public visitation starting at 10AM at the church. Following mass there will be lunch and hospitality, then interment at Resurrection Cemetery.
