Reynaldo Estigoy Capistrano
January 7th, 1949 - January 23rd, 2025
Reynaldo “Rey” Estigoy Capistrano, 76, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born January 7, 1949 in Manaoag Pangasinan, Philippines and passed away on January 23, 2025 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is survived by his loving wife; Edilma “Edi”, daughter; Kathy (Ron) Doht, son; Tony (Rebecca) Capistrano, grandchildren; Stevie Ryan, Jonathan Carter, Ayden Christopher, Isobel Noa, Emma Rey, and Elijah Akoni, siblings; Rosie (Eduardo) Castro, Liza Daquip, Carlos (Marissa) Capistrano, Danny (Edna) Capistrano and Carlito (Joy) Capistrano, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisca Estigoy and Policarpio Ferrer Capistrano, and by brother-in-law Bobby Daquip.
Rey enlisted in the US Army during Vietnam in 1968 while living in Hawaii. During the war he served in Korea. After Vietnam, he reenlisted and during his military service was stationed in Panama, Fort Benning, GA, Ashaffenburg, Germany, Fort Carson, CO, Fort Wainwright, AK, and Wayne, PA where he retired as a 1st Sergeant teaching Military Science at Valley Forge Military Academy. He also had brief duty assignments in Korea and Japan. His decorations/medals/ badges and other commendations during his years of service include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle, M-16, Expert Infantryman Badge, Drill Sergeant ID Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon. After 24 years of service he retired in 1994 and returned to Colorado Springs where he worked for Atmel, retiring for the second time.
He enjoyed fishing.
He adored his grandchildren.
He enjoyed taking pictures of mom’s prized roses and cooking for the family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11th from 12:00PM-2:00PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 4310 Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 12th from 10:00 AM-11:00AM at the same location. A committal service will follow at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 12:00PM.
