After leaving the Navy, Barry began his long career at Progress Graphics in Jersey City. Over the next 40 years, he worked his way up from a photoengraver apprentice to lithographer, foreman, and ultimately plant superintendent. His dedication to his craft and success in his work were a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment.

In 1962, Barry married the love of his life, Ellie.
