Robert Earl Jent
January 29th, 2025
Robert (Bob) Jent, passed away January 29, 2025 on the one year anniversary that his beloved daughter, Glenda, passed. We lost a man that was proud to say he loved God, his family, and his country. He was born in Colorado Spring in 1932 to Cleo and Roberta Jent at the old St. Francis Hospital. He grew up with three sisters Colleen, Patricia, and Nancy and numerous half siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carolyn, who tirelessly took care of him at home until he had to be moved to a care center where she was faithfully by his side each day. He is also survived by his children Carol and Robert (Janai), son-in-law Lynn, grandchildren Stacey (Paul), Victoria, and Jacob, and his great grandchildren Grace and Luis, and his sister Colleen. They all remember him for his great of sense of humor, his laugh, teasing, deep conversations, love for the Word of God, debates and and sharing wisdom from his life experiences.
Besides the great pride he had for his family, he was proud of being on the state championship football team for Colorado Springs High School in 1948, his 21 years in the Air Force (OSI), and his 20 years as an Alaska State Trooper. He was proud to be a man of God and a member of the Church of God 7th Day.
Bob’s desire to serve his country lead him to enlist in the Air Force. That decision took him to Korea and then Georgia where he met the love of his life, Carolyn. Carolyn stood by his side as a true helpmate as the family moved from assignment to assignment including Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Japan, Idaho, New Jersey, and Alaska. Their children will alway say that they always made these trips into memorable, life changing adventures. Over the years he enjoyed camping with the family, running, fishing, biking, reading and rarely missing a Denver Broncos game.
As Director of the Alaska State Trooper, he made great strides in updating Alaska’s Crime Lab, overseeing the investigations into many “notorious” Alaskan crimes and enjoyed his involvement in the Trooper sponsored Alaska Special Olympic fund raising activities. During his career and in retirement, Bob was active in many law enforcement organizations.
In life he was a friend to hundreds, mentor to dozens, and admired and respected by many who came in contact with him.
His family wishes to thank all the those who lovingly cared for Bob. This includes but is not limited to the caregivers from Cornerstone Caregiving who became like family, Bristol Hospice who made Bob’s last days comfortable and peaceful, and the dedicated staff at Brookdale Skyline Skilled Nursing. These dedicated professionals are all true angels of their professions. Very special thanks goes to his caregiver, Shelby. Her care, love, and patience is greatly appreciated and she has made the journey so much easier for us. He is at peace now.
Please join us February 18th as we honor Bob at The Springs Funeral Home, Platt Avenue at 11:30AM followed by a reception. His burial with military honors will take place the same day at Evergreen Cemetery at 2:30PM.
