Charles Floyd Soneson Nov. 7, 1954 – March 8, 2020 Charles Floyd Soneson passed away March 8, 2020. He was a resident of Bandon, OR. He was 65. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Alene, his daughter Alexandra, his sister Sally Hay, and his brother Wayne Stiles. He is survived by his daughter Jane Soneson, his sister Kay Matheson, and several nieces and nephews. His former wife Cheryl died in 2021. Charlie was born in Portland Nov. 7, 1954. He graduated from Washington High School, where he was Senior Class President, and from the University of Oregon, where he was president of Druids (junior class honor society). While at UO, Charlie was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, where he served as Rush Chairman. Charlie maintained close connections with many of his Beta brothers for the rest of his life. Charlie was bright and intellectually curious. He was a lifelong learner, a prolific reader, and a regular customer of the Bandon and Coos Bay Libraries. Charlie was a superb conversationalist (including history, sports, literature and politics). He was interested in others and made friends readily. He was quick to offer his charming smile and any needed favor to friends and also to new acquaintances. Charlie began his career in apparel sales for Jantzen. Later, he was a co-founder of Pacific Print Works. In later years, Charlie operated a catering business in Bandon. His entrepreneurial mind was always at work. Charlie was a friend to many in the Bandon and Portland areas and beyond. He will be greatly missed, as he was greatly loved. All are invited to attend a memorial service for Charlie on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 2710 N.E. 14th Ave. in Portland, and to a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. the same day at Steeplejack Brewing Co., 2400 N.E. Broadway, in Portland.
