Joan "Lowry" Turner

Turner, Joan Lowry 91 Nov. 21, 1924 Nov. 16, 2016 Beloved wife, mother and sister who passed away peacefully in her bed at 91. Joan was born in Heppner, Ore., and raised in Orange County, Calif., where her family lived in both Hawthorne and Inglewood. She attended college as a member of the Tri-Delt Sorority at the University of Arizona and Oregon State in Corvallis. It was at OSC where she met her husband to be Marshall R Turner, and they were married in 1947 and lived in Caracas, Venezuela before moving back and forth to the USA. First to New Haven, Conn., and eventually to the Portland area in 1954. Besides being an active participant in her children's school and sports activities, Joan took up golf and eventually became a member of Riverside GCC and later she was also President of OWGA. She was fortunate to have traveled with her husband across the globe and she had many close friends, some who stayed in contact with her throughout most of her life. She is survived by sons, Marshall Turner of Spokane, Wash., Stephen Turner of Sherwood, Ore., Douglas Turner of Tualatin; and daughter, Anne Simpson of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK.; six granddaughters; three Grandsons; and three great- grandsons. She was preceded in passing by her husband Marshall R Turner and sister Carol Yandell of Port Townsend, Wash. A Memorial Service to Celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Dec. 10, 2016 in the Chapel at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home 6705 SE 14th Ave, Portland, OR 97202. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross, Albertina Kerr Foundation or St. Vincent DePaul. Service Information
