Robert Earl Lewis
January 16th, 1940 - October 5th, 2016
Robert E Lewis born January 16th 1940 to John and Beulah Lewis in Portland and died October 5th 2016 in Milwaukie. He went to Portland Christian grade school and Benson High School. He was active in sports, including football and and pitcher on the baseball team in high school. He was married to the love of his life Bernice on October 26, 1962. When he moved to the farm in Boring in 1975 he was at his best raising rabbits, cows, pigs, goats and chickens. He was a proud dad of 2 children, daughter Karin Michelle Lewis and son David Michael Lewis (Melodie). Fortunate enough to travel included 14 cruises, the best being Europe, traveling across the United States from Portland Oregon to Portland Maine. Along the way we visited the Football Hall of Fame and the Baseball Hall of Fame where his Great Uncle, Zach Wheat was elected in 1959. For several years he traveled to Phoenix Arizona for the Mariners Spring Training and LPGA womens golf in Palm Springs. He was also a avid Duck fan including O's painted on both big toenails. Bob worked for many automotive business's including Field Chevrolet, Ron Tonkin Chevrolet, B&B auto supply, 205 Auto Salvage. The last 12 years of his career he worked as for Clackamas County Road Department as a buyer for the heavy equipment department. He retired in 2002 moving to Central Oregon which he called God's country with a view of 3 Sisters, Mt Jefferson and Mt Hood outside our windows. A collector of many things including NASCAR, Matchbooks, Old Kitchen utensils and Coke-Cola memorabilia. He enjoyed joking and teasing people especially when people would tease back. He had a twinkle in his eye when his grandkids and great grandkids were around. Bob was a little league coach for Happy Valley for several years and president of the league for 2 years. He was president of the Mom and Dad's Club at Clackamas High school and was one of the founding fathers of the all night senior graduation party in 1983. Family::: 6 grandkids, , Benjamin Lewis (Helen), Brandon Holicky(Amelia), Alex Holicky (Zak King) , Austin Holicky, Mercedes Lewis (Matt Brinser), Michael Lewis. 3 Great grandkids, AnnaBelle and Jake Holicky and Olivia King. Bob's strugged with his health the last 3 years. Many of the therapists and nurses working with Bob had a true love for him and he for them. Bob is with the lord and faces no more pain and suffering. If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet, how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person. Bob left something of himself with every person he met. Viewing at Wilhem's Portland Memorial on Monday, October 10th from 11 to 3. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, October 11th and 10am at 6705 SE 14th, Portland Oregon with a reception to follow. At Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, we have a rich history dating back to 1901 when we became the first crematory west of the Mississippi River, known then as The Portland Cremation Association. Our historic chapel, marked by its cornerstone placed on February 5th, 1901, has stood the test of time. Today, our memorial site spans 8 stories, approximately 7 miles of corridors of beautifully preserved architecture, and the largest mausoleum on the west coast, spanning 2.5 city blocks....
