Gilbert "Gil" Buller
June 8th, 1939 - February 8th, 2025
Gilbert Buller, beloved husband, father, and grandfather entered heaven’s portals on February 5, 2025 at the age of 85. Gilbert was born on June 8, 1939 to Peter E. and Elsie L. Buller in York, Nebraska. The family moved to Omaha when he was six years old where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1957.
After graduating from Grace Bible Institute with a diploma in Bible, he furthered his education graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in electrical engineering. He served on the engineering staff of HCJB, a world-wide missionary radio station in Quito, Ecuador, where he maintained their six radio transmitters. Returning to the United States he earned a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering; preparing him for a career in microchip research and development at multiple high tech companies.
Gil married his high school sweetheart, Grace Becker, on August 14, 1960 and raised their two sons, Jonathan and Richard. During their retirement years they enjoyed traveling to Europe, South America and the Holy Land. They took cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal and a European river cruise. Their last trip was a missions trip to a remote village in the Democratic Republic of Congo where he met Benjamin, a nurse in the village hospital. Gil gave of his time and money for the benefit of the village, the most satisfying was helping Benjamin obtain training to conduct cataract surgeries which greatly improved the quality of life for the villagers. Benjamin kept in contact with Gil and years later told Gil that he was like a father to Benjamin.
Gil loved studying the Bible which motivated him to memorize 300 Bible verses while attending Grace Bible Institute. For many years, prior to his membership at Magnify Evangelical Free Church in Colorado Springs, he used his passion and knowledge of the Bible to teach adult Sunday School classes and small group Bible studies.
Gil also had a passion for astronomy. He researched the chronological dance of astronomical events that occurred surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ to write and present the “Astronomical Star of Bethlehem” program. For seven consecutive years during the Christmas season he presented this program at the University of Colorado’s Fiske Planetarium in Boulder, CO. His program was very popular and was typically sold out, impressing some of the astronomy professors at the university.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother, Dennis. Awaiting the glorious resurrection are his wife, Grace, his two sons, Jonathan (Arlene) and Richard (Rebekah), five grandchildren: Marissa, Adriana, Mikayla, Sappho, and Cheyenne and siblings, Marilyn (Lloyd), Carol Ann (Ronnie) and, Phil, (Debbe) plus a host of friends.
