Shirley Leslie Hood
August 9th, 1938 - February 23rd, 2025
In Loving Memory
Shirley Leslie Hood passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025. She was 86 years old. Shirley was born in Easley, SC on August 9, 1938 and was the fourth of five children of the late Claude and Elizabeth Leslie.
Shirley leaves behind 3 children: Jan Hood Autry (Steve), Greg Hood, and Bryan Hood; brother, Wallace Leslie (Susan); two grandchildren, Andrew Hood and Alex Hood; brothers-in-law, Dexter Hood (Linda) and Harry Hornsby (Maxine); sisters-in-law, Mary Mattox, Margaret Leslie, Paulette Whitehurst (Curtis); and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Hood; sister, Mary Orr; brothers, Henry Leslie and Vaughn Leslie.
Shirley loved life, her family, and friends. She was a social bee! If anyone, called her to ask if she wanted to go anywhere, the only
words one could get out were “would you like to go”, her response was an immediate yes. She was ready. She retired from Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel, after more than 30 years of service. She made many lifelong friends with which she never lost contact. She enjoyed activities like playing cards, dinners out, parties, and lots of dancing with her friends.
A funeral service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road Columbia, SC 29209 on Saturday, March 1 at 1pm, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park following the funeral service.
