Damon was born into this world in Streator, Illinois, and after traveling the world, finally landed in Melbourne, Florida. During his younger years, while his family was overseas, he attended Wasatch Academy and was also part of the Aramco Brats family. Here, he made many lifelong friends with whom he remained in contact. Many said he always brought fun and laughter to all their parties. He loved traveling across Europe, making friends worldwide, making flavored liquor, wine, beer, Siddiqui, and scuba-diving in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf. Later, he proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserve, the Air Force, and then the Civil Air Patrol.
Damon obtained his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ITT and, in his later years, usually held positions as supervisor or project manager everywhere, from San Diego, California, to Houston, Texas, to Melbourne, Florida. His last position was with the illustrious FIT (Florida Institute of Technology). He truly loved being part of a team and cared deeply for all those he worked with. Earning the respect of those around him was something he strived for daily, and it showed the devotion of his employees even after he would leave a job.
There are so many attributes that made Damon the remarkable man he was. He loved to teach and strove to make even the most difficult concepts understandable. Throughout his life, he loved music, movies, and TV (he was both an avid Trekkie and Star Wars fan) and even was part of the road crew for the band, Agnes Poetry. Damon always had a funny story and loved to tell it no matter how many times you might have heard it before. His heart was huge, and he would go to the ends of the earth to help his friends and family. He was a loving father who had both the “dad jokes” and countless pictures on his phone to prove it. To his wife, he was a hopeless romantic who remembered all the smallest details and expressed his caring daily.
He loved all his animal companions and became a lover and defender of pit bulls after adopting George the Wonder dog. Driving and getting lost would always become an “adventure” for his passengers, with unknown treasures to find. He loved spending the day at outdoor markets, festivals, and movies. Like any proper Irishman, he enjoyed a cold beer and a meal of meat and potatoes with friends and family.
Unfortunately, Damon developed multiple medical issues, many related to complications from diabetes. These included surgeries at Holmes Regional Medical Center, where the wound care nurses, ICU nurses, and Trauma surgical staff provided him with outstanding, life-saving care on multiple occasions. During this time, he also shared multiple jokes and gave (unsolicited) supervisory input to the staff of Fresenius Medical Care during his dialysis sessions. Thank you to the nurses and staff who always kept an extra eye out for him. He was truly blessed to have a knowledgeable and dedicated team of medical specialists to care for the complexity that was just Damon.
Greeting Damon in Heaven were his father, David Hart, and brother, Dantin Hart, as well as his fur babies: Regal, Lola, George, and Bella. He leaves behind to carry on his memories his spouse Melissa, children Thom (Jennasie) Hart, Sarah Hart, and Zachary Leffler, his mother Sheila Hart, brothers Dustin and Devin (Laura), grandchildren Linkoln and Penelope Hart, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.
Per Damon’s wishes, no services will be held locally. His ashes will be spread across the mountains of the Utah / Wyoming area at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks if people would like to donate in memory of Damon, to give to:

The Final Flight
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day.
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with my remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life’s been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now. He set me free.
