Dora Mares
1925 - February 19th, 2025
With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Dora Mares, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Dora passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at 99.
Born in Niwot, Colorado, on December 11, 1925, Dora lived a life full of love, laughter, and remarkable resilience through many challenges. She was a woman of deep faith, which guided her throughout her life. Many will remember Dora's warm smile, gentle nature and kind heart.
As we remember Dora, let's hold onto the lessons she taught us: to embrace life wholeheartedly and cherish our moments with those we hold dear. Her legacy lives on through the love and memories we carry with us. She showed us the true meaning of living with grace, compassion, humility, joy, humor and strength.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mares, whom she was married to for nearly 51 years.
Dora is survived by her beloved daughter Mary and son-in-law Leo, her sister Delia Hammons, her brother John Montoya, cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
A funeral service to honor Dora's life will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, located at 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, Colorado 80219.
Viewing from 11 - 11:30am
Funeral service starts at 11:30am
Followed by interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 4400 West Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236 starting at 2:00pm
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dora’s memory to Paralyzed Veterans of Colorado.
Let us find comfort in knowing that Dora's spirit continues shining brightly, guiding us with grace and serenity. May we always remember her life with the same joy and kindness she gave to all of us.
