Tammie Ellen Whitehead went to heaven at the young age of 61 under the care of Vitas Hospice in Lake Wales on Monday March 3rd, 2025. She passed peacefully after her year-long battle with post heart attack complications.

 

Tammie was born on February 20th, 1964 and spent her younger years in Columbia, South Carolina. She moved to Winter Haven, Florida at 12 years old where she continued to grow up. She graduated from Winter Haven High School in 1982 and Polk Community College in 1984 to become an X-ray tech. This is how she met her husband, Claude. Later she took over as radiology manager at Winter Haven Hospital. She worked there until 2007 and later started teaching school. She taught at Winter Haven Christian, Snively Elementary, Auburndale Central, and Lena Vista with her daughter, Stefanee. Tammie was also a Girl Scout leader for 12 years.

 

Tammie has now joined many friends and family members in heaven including her first son, Christopher Taylor Whitehead and father-in-law, Travis Lamar Whitehead. Her survivors include her husband Claude Travis Whitehead of 37 years and her mother-in-law, Lucille Whitehead. Tammie's brother James Benton AKA Tadpole. Her children Travis Jay AKA TJay and Stefanee Nikkole and her husband Jonathan Lopez ,and Tammie's grandson Braxtyn Layne and granddaughter Evangelyna Rayne.
