Eileen Patricia White
January 8th, 1944 - February 26th, 2025
Eileen White, who cared for the sick, welcomed the stranger, and left a legacy of love, passed from this life to the next February 26, 2025.
Eileen Patricia Sweeney was born in Bridgeport, Conn., to Anthony and Anna (Connors) Sweeney on January 8, 1944. She grew up in Lordship, the youngest of ten in a loving Irish family. Eileen and her best friend, Judy, attended nursing school and moved to Hollywood, working at Cedars-Sinai hospital. Eileen married a soldier, Carl White, in 1969. After tours in Calif. and Germany, they settled in Colorado, where Carl built their family home in Black Forest. They lived in this beautiful colonial house in the woods for over 40 years, raising three children and holding countless gatherings where friends and family always felt accepted and loved, especially their eight grandchildren.
Eileen worked for Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care as an LPN for over 20 years and then as a volunteer for another 5. She approached her vocation and life through her strong faith in God: with love, compassion, a wry sense of humor and an unflinching willingness to walk with people during their most difficult times, always seeming to know the right things to do and say.
Her way of being continued to encourage friends, caregivers and her family even as she made her journey with Alzheimer’s up until the last day of her life. The family is deeply grateful for the dear friends who cared for and supported Eileen through these years, especially faithful friends Sue and Jan and the caregivers at Choice Hospice and Brookdale Broadmoor where she lived this past year.
Eileen is survived by her children, Moira (Ryan) Pendleton of Monument, Sean White of Colorado Springs, Tara (Gil) Afriat of Givat Ada, Israel, and grandchildren Spencer and Bo Allaby, Anna, Emma and Ryan Pendleton, Sammy, Sarah and Alex White, and Nava, Eden and Etan Afriat. She was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
Services will be held at the Black Forest Chapel 1:00PM, Monday, March 10, 2025, the burial is at Eatonville Cemetery at 2:15PM
