David Leonard Castillo
July 28th, 1939 - March 2nd, 2025
David L. Castillo
David Leonard Castillo passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family at the age of 85. Born on July 28, 1939, in Wattenberg, Colorado, David was a beacon of integrity and warmth throughout his life. The son of Betty and Joe Castillo, both of whom preceded him in death, he was raised to value honor and empathy, principles he exemplified until his final days.
A proud veteran, David served in the United States Navy, demonstrating his commitment to service and his country. This chapter of his life instilled in him a profound sense of duty and camaraderie, characteristics that defined him both in uniform and beyond.
In 1961, David's life took a beautiful turn when he married Dorothy, the woman who would be his steadfast companion for more than six decades. Their life together in Commerce City was filled with laughter, mutual respect, and love. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. David took immense pride in his family, raising their sons—Phillip, Samuel, and Mario—who carry forward his legacy with resilience and compassion.
David was recognized for his boundless love and generosity, which he freely extended to family, friends, and even strangers. His big heart was a source of comfort to many, and his wisdom, freely shared, uplifted those around him. His life was a testament to the difference one person can make through simple acts of kindness and grace.
He is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy and their sons Phillip (Renee), Samuel (Sabrina), Mario (Christine), 6 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through them and through the countless lives he touched with his compassion and understanding.
The Castillo family invites family, friends, and the community to join them in honoring David's memory with a rosary and mass beginning at 9:30 am March 21st, 2025. This will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church located at 2760 Larimer St. Denver, CO. This gathering will serve as a tribute to a life dedicated to love, service, and integrity.
In remembering David Leonard Castillo, we celebrate a life defined by an unwavering commitment to love and kindness. His presence in this world brought joy and comfort to many, and while he will be dearly missed, his spirit endures in the hearts of those he touched.
